There it goes!
After the pour, there's much hand-finishing to do before the modules are ready to be assembled.
I made a plastic maquette for the foundry, to help show how the modules should be assembled.
This turned out to be very labor-intensive: tacking the parts together, then taking them down again to adjust the fit.
After assembly, Steve took charge of coloring the piece. We'd planned all along for polished edges, but once
we saw how well the surface finish came out we decided impromptu to use a light finish to show off the metal, rather
than the heavy patina originally planned. The piece has two sides, so we went with golden-red versus
golden-green. Above, foil protects the patina where it's already in place.
